Trans-seasonal dressing

pic: Hayley Hughes from Melbourne Street Fashion

We're experiencing weird weather at the moment. One minute its sunny and devine, the next it is cloudy and raining. Needless to say this is playing havoc with my wardrobe choices. Trans-sesasonal dressing would be easier if I had these shoes, shirt and shorts!

Rodarte

pics: getty

You can always count on Rodarte to take NY fashion week to the next level. In this collection they have moved away from whimsical previous collections, into tribal, animalistic, arcaic territory. What a breath of fresh air! Don't forget to check out the Nicholas Kirkwood shoes!

I found it extremely difficult narrowing down the shots to post here - the whole collection is amazing!

Love: clashing prints at Alexandre Herchcovitch

Don't know what was going on with those gridiron-inspired shoulders but I love the clashing prints at Alexandre Herchcovitch!

Calvin Klein

thefashionspot

I have always been a fan of the relaxed elegance of Calvin Klein. I really love the colour palette of this collection and the textures he has incorporated. Whilst some would prefer to see skyrocketing heels in every collection, I believe the Geisha-inspired platforms of this collection suit the CK aesthetic down to a t!

Fashion week ... and so it begins

As we head into the Australian summer, the New York shows present us with some interesting options for our sweltering weather. I will be spending the next few weeks selecting my picks from the New York, London, Milan and Paris. Stay tuned for more regular and lust-worthy updates!

Sara Phillips' ss 09/10 follows on from her autumn/winter collection albeit in more muted pastel tones. Her simple cuts, delicate fabrics and interesting prints make the perfect addition to a carefree summer wardrobe.

Gimme a B-O-T-W!

Introducing a new category to honsandrebels: BOTW aka blog of the week!

The honours today go to the lovely Style ... a work in progress
Her no-fuss Brit style,  witty and relevant quotes, in addition to her recent posts about leopard print have gotten me absolutely hooked!

Favourite Frock

I wear this dress a little too often.

Oh Snap!

So how many aussi wannabe fashionistas followed subconsciously followed this guide to get shot by the sart during his stint in oz?

The Pipeline has devised a tongue-in-cheek guide to getting shot by the sart and achieving instant global recognition amongst the international fashion blogging community.

Check it out at http://pipeline.refinery29.com/

All jokes aside, I think the sart is the first to admit that he is drawn to a certain asthetic. The best thing is there are other street style blogs that showcase a range of styles!

Guilty purchase

Picked up these dries van noten shoes which have been on my wishlist since I saw the lovely ladies of seaofshoes wearing them! Will wait patiently until the oxfords from the same collection appear on ebay with my name on them. Until then, these will suffice.

Jessie Hill 'Morocco' ss 09/10

Came across an article on Jessie Hill's ss collection on thenewmuse.net. For this collection she sought inspiration from a photograph of her grandmother modelling in Morocco in the 1960s. A print of the photograph is a running theme of the collection, adding a sweet touch to 'very now' sheer dresses and jumpsuits.

It is often interesting to hear where designers get inspiration for their collections from. A collection that has a story adds another element, making them more than just clothes.

ETSY MUST HAVE

Pic: see link below

Etsy seller Charm Star sells cute hand made sterling silver charms which make ideal gifts that you won't see everyone else wearing. I am loving the parasol charm above.

My to do list is depressingly long. Here is a short version.

1. study for exams (this WILL start tomorrow)
2. Learn to sew. I have finally convinced my nonno to teach me. It will take all her patience.
3. Buy a digital slr camera. My lovely friends have given me $ to put towards a camera. I want to start doing outfit and picture posts.

GEEK GLASSES

Remember in primary school when everyone would tease the kids wearing glasses? Well apparently, geek is now chic.

But is a trend still chic when every hipster from Degraves to Brunswick Street is wearing it?

HOLY GRAIL BOOTS...

jak & jil

I don't think I would kill for these Ann D boots but I might be tempted to commit some sort of serious crime.

TV AW09

Ask me two months ago my views on leopard print and I would shoot you a dismissive look of disgust.

That was until I saw the latest Melbourne label TV's AW09 collection. Hmmm it ain't so Jackie Collins...

I think I need some of the chunky wool jumper love in my life right about NOW. Freaking cold in Melbourne today.

Current obsession: Evelyn Waugh

A young Waugh.
Am currently meandering through Martin Stannard's comprehensive biography of Waugh in his early years. A great insight to his motivations.
My favourite Waugh novel is Scoop. Actually I think it is my favourite book. Excuse me while I escape to Ishmaelia...

Do you have a favourite Waugh novel?

Please excuse the 6-month blogging hiatus. I am still undecided whether I should keep a blog. Some horror stalker stories have me worried. Plus, I'm hardly stylish (says she typing in an outfit courtesy of bonds). Anywho, let's see how it goes, shall we?
